Amazon has introduced the new Alexa feature described as “learning experience,” and it was called Reading Sidekick. This function is targeted at children aged 6 to 9, helping them learn to read independently for pleasure. This feature functions with Echo devices that have children’s features enabled, even though you will also need an Amazon Kids + subscription to use the sidekick.

Amazon reveals new functionality at this time, explaining that the tool utilizes Alexa Voice Assistant and Amazon Kids + App on the tablet to read one of the books found in the Sidekick Reading Library. There are hundreds of books for young readers supported by sidekicks, according to Amazon, including titles such as milk and cakes for new readers, as well as things like all the world today for children whose reading skills are a little more advanced.

Children can use an ebook or physical edition of the title supported by reading the sidekick. Alexa will alternate with children to read the book, each taking its own turn, with the aim of strengthening reading skills on the road to full reading independence. The sound assistant will help children with words they might struggle to read or correct if they read the sentence correctly.

This system is quite easy for children to learn. After saying the expression, “Alexa, let’s read,” The child only needs to tell Alexa the name of the book and how much they want to read using simple commands like “lots” or “a little”. Alexa will do most of the reading if the child says “a little,” while the child will do most of the reading if they say “a lot.”

According to Amazon, reading sidekicks was designed to give children’s encouragement, by praising them when they passed rough patches or notify them that they did a good job. Parents, meanwhile, can use the Amazon children’s dashboard to monitor things like books read, the amount of time spent on reading, and more.
