So you love to travel and you are all excited for your next (or first) trip but worried about your hair? Don’t be, follow these simple hair care tips to protect your hair while travelling and you don’t need to come back in a knotted mop. Women travellers often come back with highly tangled and damaged after spending days or weeks at beaches. But it is important to take care before, during and after your travel to maintain the health of your hair, just like you take care of your skin.

Easy-to-follow hair care tips

Oil your hair – Oiling your hair is the most beneficial thing for your hair. Among hair oils, argan oil and coconut oil are the best. The method is simple: you need to apply the oil on your scalp and on the length of the hair to the tips and then leave it overnight, if not possible or you are not comfortable then leave it for at least 4-5 hours. This will provide the nourishment your hair has lost due to city smog or the dry air of aircraft and the sun obviously!

Wash – You should wash your hair a day before you leave and definitely when you come back. If you are going on a trip for more than 3-4 days then you will need to wash it while you are on your trip also so for this it is advisable that you take your own shampoo (you can also take dry shampoo) as it is important to use products that suit your hair and the ones provided at hotels and other places to stay or travel might not be suitable for you.

Serum – Most of the time women tend to style their hair while they are on a trip, now this is another source of damage to your hair, so make sure you apply a serum before you start using any straightener or curler. Also, it is advisable that you avoid styling your hair if you are going to the beach.

Hair Accessories – These kind of small, fancy things are a great add up to your travel attire. Hair accessories like scarves and headbands and hats not only protect your hair from the dirt, dust and pollution but also enhance your travel looks. They are easy to pack, wear and style along with providing protection to your hair. Don’t forget to leave these at home and if you do then these things are readily available at almost all travel places in Asia especially, so you will not face any problem searching for it. Also, if you need to buy then you will be presented with the native style of the place you are visiting and it will be another beautiful scarf(hat or headband, etc) in your wardrobe.

Comb – Now this is one of the most ignored hair care tips, combing. Yes, combing your hair is very essential that too regularly. You should comb your hair at least once or twice a day. Especially if you have curly hair. The thing with curly hair is that it is naturally dry, so you need to keep them combed in order to not let them tangle because if they do then you are going to have hair fall and we know you definitely do not want that to happen.

Also, remember to use a wooden comb instead of plastic ones because plastic combs tend to electrify your hair which leads to more hair breakage. It is always preferred to use a wooden comb. Other benefits of wooden combs are that they are soft on the scalp, unlike plastic ones which can cause harm to your scalp as it is way too sensitive and it also helps in the distribution of the oil throughout the length of your hair.

Some extra piece of advice

Apart from the tips mentioned above, you should also use sun protection, remember not to wash your hair daily as it takes away the essential oils that our scalp produces and which are necessary to promote good health. Condition your hair every time you shampoo or at least once a week. Another useful tip is to make a bun of your hair. It suits all types of your hair heavy, thin, dry, oily. If you make a bun of your hair, you don’t have to worry about a thing. And the last but not the least is to carry an efficient hair just like a peanut hair trimmer , this can be used as a hair clipper as well as a hair trimmer, so you need not carry two devices, just one peanut hair trimmer is enough. You can go for it for regular use as well.

We hope the above article will prove to be beneficial for you while you travel to Asia, Africa or Europe or any other place.
